What We Celebrated: Cheese (in both its literal and figurative sense)

There were all kinds of cheese this day. First, the entire STATUS team went nostalgic when we blasted 90s alternative rock music from my iPod. The MTV generation (one of the best decades, must I add) is worth paying homage, too, anyway. Remember when we would actually sit down in front of the tube, look forward to music videos (kids under 15 years old: yes, we didn’t have YouTube then), when we can make out the chords of a verse and try to play it freestyle with our own guitars, sing to lyrics that are bam-straight to the point? So, your task during the break? Open your computer, go to iTunes, and make your own 90s playlist. Let us know what you have in there.

For dinner, Tindabs, a couple of my friends, and I went to Size Matters (located along Tomas Morato, corner Sct. De Guia Street). We ran up to the third floor to greet the owners, JR and Marge. What surprised me was that the diner was actually pretty small for one that had “Size Matters” as a name. But damn, the food didn’t disappoint in…voluminosity and taste at all. They gave us these winning cheese pods and fries for appetizers, 2 1-litre mugs of iced tea for our drinks, 3 huge, tasty burgers, and the 12-inch hungarian sandwich. Cray set, I know! But what champions our list? The Breakfast In Bed burger.

Feeling 10 pounds heavier and 10 times more satisfied, we ordered bottles of beer and just chilled a bit with the Burger King and the Sausage Queen before heading home. Coincidentally, more cheese came in the picture when we found out that this couple were best of friends for 9 years before they realized they were just meant to be together and so got wed; plus, they’re about to celebrate their anniversary as a married couple this month! We just had to toast on that one.

What We Caroled:

U2′s “With Or Without You” (Through the storm, we reach the shore / You gave it all but I want more / And I’m waiting for you / With or without you)

Arkarna’s “So Little Time” (So little time so much to do / I wanna spend my days with you)

The Smashing Pumpkins’ “1979″ (We don’t even care as restless as we are / We feel the pull in the land of a thousand guilts / And poured cement, lamented and assured / To the lights and towns below)

What We Wish:

For March 2012 to arrive fast because Size Matters is not just opening a new branch in the Pasig area but is also expanding their menu to include steaks, pasta, and more.

WTF:

Other than that one of us kept calling Hoegaarden, Whoregaarden (it’s actually funny if you were there to hear it), Tindabs and I realized that we were surrounded by TWO couples that night. 5th wheels, huh. So full of cheese; thank God we ain’t lactose intolerant.—HITGIRL
