Fashion is now extending a hand to meet with the latest trends beyond clothes. It’s a strategic move in becoming more relevant and to boost ready-to-wear pieces’ marketability, with more and more collaborations all around the world with the likes of movies, TV shows, and music. It’s putting two of your favorite things into this one collection that will definitely make it into your wish list.
2018 will surely carry out the trend of pop culture in fashion. Headlining the New Year, Adidas collaborates with Japanese manga artist Akira Toriyama, the artist of the Japanese anime television series Dragon Ball Z. Having this collaboration ignites a nostalgic feeling and brings you back to the days where your mornings were just consisted of prepared breakfasts and watching Dragon Ball Z on TV. Now that the Dragon Ball Z audience is all grown up, what better way to build that childhood connection with an Adidas and Dragon Ball Z collaboration?
Each character is paired off to an existing Adidas sneaker model. The sneaker designs are subtle but a Dragon Ball Z fan would definitely identify which sneaker is dedicated to which character. The designs are cool and very much in line with the Adidas brand even if you’re not a fan of Dragon Ball Z you could still rock these kicks. There would be seven sneakers representing the seven Dragon Balls in the anime. Adidas will be releasing two pairs on August, September, November, and December 2018.
The Dragon Ball Z villain’s physicality is truly captured in the Yung-1. Its alien-like silhouette with the purple and white color scheme speaks for itself.
Matching Son Goku’s signature dougi, the Adidas ZX 500 RM x Son Goku is also wrapped in orange with touches of blue.
The Oregon Utlra Tech looks pretty aggressive with its half blue and half yellow design just like its inspiration, the resident egoistical tsundere Vegeta.
The sneaker model Kamanda has soft features and has the iconic fleshy pink Majiin Buu has. Kamanda x Majiin Buu is an out-of-the-ordinary design that is not for the faint-hearted.
The EQT ADV Mid is the perfect silhouette for Shenron, the way the green, gold, and red are distributed in this sneaker mimics the dragon. If you’re opting for something more monochromatic there’s a Super Shenron version with black and gold.
