Anthony Ramirez’s Holiday 2011 collection After Glam cured my Philippine Fashion Week hangover. Bandaging, draping, and his use of jewel tones with black and silver were the perfect cure to my fashion week withdrawal symptoms.
Anthony Ramirez described his collection as being both sexy and gothic. These are definitely the pieces to bust out when the sun begins to set, and when its time to turn down the lights and turn up the music. According to the designer, this is his interpretation of mixing street glamour with couture–and we can totally see it. Reminiscent of Balmain’s headline-making and fashion-hall-of-fame-worthy Spring 2009 RTW show, Ramirez’s bandaging and draping seem so effortlessly cool. Yes, there’s no other word for it but that. The way that the fabric falls and the way he mixes materials from tulle to wool doesn’t feel labored at all. He channels Christophe Decarnin’s rock n’ roll sensibilities and marries it to L’Wren Scott’s more toned down body conscious aesthetic so naturally.
Dressed like this, you will never be denied entry to any afterparty.-VIVALAVIDA
