In the spirit of Sean Lennon living out John and Yoko’s visions (check out our October 2012 Renaissance Issue for more on that), we here at STATUS decided to feel the family love by celebrating these famous peeps that turned out just like their parents.
Victor Demarchelier and Patrick Demarchelier
Photography
“Did Demarchelier confirm?” When Miranda Priestly asked this in The Devil Wears Prada, she didn’t know that the day would soon come when Andy would have to ask, “Which one?” Need we say more?

Sophia Coppola and Francis Ford Coppola
Directing
Thank God for bad acting. If Sophia Coppola was never panned for her performance in The Godfather III, then she would have joined dad Francis Ford Coppola behind the camera. Well, admittedly, the Coppola family is kind of a dynasty, but these two give a new meaning to the term family business.
LMFAO’s Redfoo and Berry Gordy
Music
Different genres, but rockin’ all the same. While son, LMFAO’s Redfoo, brought us party anthems like “Sexy And I Know It” and… well, “Party Rock Anthem,” his dad, Motown record label founder Berry Gordy, brought us some of R&B and soul greats like Gladys Knight and the Pips, Diana Ross (ahem, who he married, ahem) and The Jackson 5.
Branching Out: LMFAO’s other half, SkyBlu, is actually Berry Gordy’s grandson, making Redfoo his uncle. Fun times in the Gordy household.
Zoe Kazan and Robin Swicord & Nicholas Kazan
Screenwriting
Ruby Sparks writer and actor Zoe Kazan actually came from a house of screenwriters. Her mother, Robin Swicord, wrote the screenplay for movies like Memoirs of a Geisha and worked with Eric Roth on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, while dad Nicholas Kazan wrote the screenplays for Bicentennial Man and Enough. Maybe Zoe asked mom and pop to give her some notes?
Deeper Roots: Zoe’s paternal grandfather was Elia Kazan, the legendary theater director who helped introduce method acting.
Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and Carine Roitfeld
Fashion
Growing up with mama sure must have developed Julia’s taste, because when your mother is the former editor-in-chief of French Vogue, then there is no room for fashion faux pas. As an art director and model, Julia consults for brands like Zac Posen, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Miu Miu while heading up campaigns for Lancôme, Roberto Cavalli for H&M, and Mango. Mother would be proud.—DEXYLEBOWSKI
