Mark Ronson, The Kills, The Drums, and Gareth Pugh come together in a ballet-meets-rock production with avant-garde fashion in what just might be the world’s hippest ballet.
STATUS October Love Issue Heavy Hitter Mark Ronson heads up the music for Wayne McGregor’s Carbon Life, an eccentric Jungian-theories-of-love-themed piece featuring musical performances by The Kills’ Alison Mosshart, Boy George, Wale, and The Drums frontman Jonathan Pierce with in larger-than-life threads by British designer Gareth Pugh will. Other people involved include Rufus Wainwright, Black Cobain, Hero Fisher, and Andrew Wyatt, among others.
I’m dead curious as to how the performers can actually dance in Gareth’s costumes, as well as how the show’s “classical” soundtrack will sound like when performed by rock and indie pop band members. Reviews so far have left us on the fence.
Carbon Life is in theaters until April 23. Sate your curiosity and catch it before it’s too late.
Meanwhile check out this video to see Carbon Life‘s rehearsals. —LOSTGIRL
