Nope, it’s not a another Gossip Girl masquerade ball, although the clothes should appeal to Blair Waldorf’s love for old Hollywood. But Queen B may have to go further back into the Silent Film era if she wants to gussy herself up in Carol Callahan’s Spring 2012 collection.
With the recent release of pictures from the set of Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby and the definite success that has come months after the first screening of Woody Allen‘s Midnight in Paris, it’s safe to say that the Roaring Twenties is the newest era on trend. Something about the luxury and lack of inhibition, I’d say. Now with Carol Callahan‘s Spring 2012 collection, you can dress the part while you obsess about the times.
A collection grounded on off-whites and other neutrals, the collection gives subtle homages to the flapper gal in her golden days. With drop waist dresses, floaty separates, and loose-hugging silhouettes, the designs hint comfort without the sacrificing style.

Perfect bait for any period costume sucker (myself, included) the collection has just the right amount of bygone romance without going too much into theme party territory. That being said, don’t let it discourage you from playing the part the clothes encourage. What girl doesn’t want to be a modern day Zelda Fitzgerald, Anais Nin, or Clara Bow?—DEXYLEBOWSKI
