Jeweler Philippe Tournaire forges architectural rings so you can experience all the great cities while barely lifting a finger. Paying tribute to Quentin Tarantino’s gory holocaust masterpiece, Hong Kong-based Hot Toys announced the upcoming release of a scaled down Col. Hans Landa (Inglourious Basterds) collectible, as part of their Movie Masterpiece Series. Why? Because the challenge is to recreate your favorite shoes from sneakers to heels. Now, this is not only sneaker customization guys. It is actually sculpture! So let’s start from the end of August’s Friday the 13th. How can you not be happy when you left a party dancing to “Sweet Soul Review” by Pizzicato Five? As in the “Hora revue ga hajimaru” 90s song. Just the same, Manila Design Week Day 5 held in Cubao X, was all about music, 70s rock and looking at hindsight to vinyl’s heydays. As if to reiterate that us kids are completely tech-reliant, Day 4 of Manila Design Week was dedicated to the youth and to graphic design. Well, click here to see how these up-and-comers stick it to the man with awesome designs that kick analog art in the butt. On the third day of Manila Design Week, they decided to do a “What’s in your bag?” photo exhibit in Greenbelt 5. Bringing fashion and art together, the crowd was a mix of photographers, bloggers, style icons, artist and your usual hip and chill people. Cut & Paste, the ultimate design battle, famous in cities like London, New York, Tokyo, and Seoul, came to Manila. Cheers to that! Top senior and junior designers met in The Collective to beat each other up in 2d, 3d print designs, and motion graphics under heavy pressure (How heavy? They had to finish a design and knock us out with it in 15 minutes!) Konichiwa b—ento boxes! Because carrying around lunch doesn’t have to be boring. And we love all things Japanese. And cute.
