So we are surfing the internet and posting up artists we like. Here is Mr. Brainwash aka MBW. He’s the kick ass graffiti behind all of this crazy artwork and those Enterprise models we were talking about a few days ago. You’d think that from painting on the street and coming up with these eccentric structures he’d be your average everyday street artist, but he’s not. He takes random cultural icons and changes them into something that can only be described as Mr. Brainwash style. From Jacko to Britney to Obama and McCain, no one is spared from his art. Now he’s on board messing with those Star Trek Enterprise models, Check out more after the jump.
So what do you get when you put director-god Chris Cunningham, a Donna Summer disco classic (re-recorded specifically for this) and Gucci all together? You get an ultra poetic film for Flora by Gucci. Be careful though! Gucci’s Ricardo Ruini says that this film is about anything but romance. Instead, let’s enjoy the poetry and the deep ethereal vibe of this wonderful film. Check out the video after the jump.
Winding up its almost month-long run on Saturday is Michael Leavitt’s exhibit titled “Don’t Stop Object Shopping”. It features some of your favorite footwear like the Jordan III & IV, Adidas Gazelle, and Nike Terminator among others- in cardboard, and Hundred-dollar sneakers in paper.
Leavitt, who runs Intuition Kitchen Productions all by himself, has done work in the past featuring subjects like Van Gogh, Tupac Shakur, Barack Obama in the most interesting and innovative depictions that provoke thought. Catch it at Fuse Gallery, 93 2nd Ave, NYC, NY. Ends April 18th.
Over here at STATUS, we love everything that has to do with fashion, music and art. (Isn’t it obvious?) So when we came cross these pictures, we loved how these furry crazy drawings looked. Who is the artist behind all of this? None other than Matt Furie.
Born to Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini, Isabella is a royalty of the film world. More than that, she has her own claim to fame in acting for former partner David Lynch’s film Blue Velvet among others, and she was the face of Lancôme for 14 years. But suddenly, last year, she was wearing insect costumes acting as random bugs having sex in minute-long short films called Greeen Porno. Guess what, she came up with a second season in Sundance Channel this April. As a whale, starfish, barnacle–think more kinky. Every character with a dash of both innocence and menace. The cartoony set and costumes may seem wholesome, but it’s definitely PG. Pure Genius. [via Salon] Just when you think that with the mission of the perfect tan your umbrellas are going to take a long vacation, you’re mistaken. Instead of associating umbrellas with sad raindrops why not associate them with art installations? Here are some samples. Why not make your own today? We know people like to do crazy things for holidays but we couldn’t help talk about what this guy did for his Easter egg. Here is another Egg post. We know Easter was a few days ago- But this is still blog worthy! | |
