God’s Prey is pumping psychic energy into their F/W collection.
I was able to chat with one of the heads behind God’s Prey, Meghan McRae, who takes the brand’s ability to mix and match silhouettes and colors to a ‘psychic’ level. She also untangles the brand’s character by a sneak peek of Psychik Cities.
STATUS: Hi Meghan! How’s everything?
MEGHAN: Everything is good!
S: Your co-founder/husband Sean Reveron said in an interview that God’s Prey is an “outlet for all the weird ideas we wanted to turn into clothing.” What’s the weirdest-idea-turned-clothing you’ve come up with?
M: I think that so far we have had a couple…the high-end sweatsuit we imagined wearing turned into our Spring ’10 Hooded Poncho and Batwing Pants. Also, there are the bondage trouser shorts, which are kind of like if your grandpa was into bondage, but way less disturbing! Honestly I don’t think we have come to the weirdest idea yet. You will know it when you see it!

S: You guys love exploring “unused or ignored” ideas. What is one reality (or maybe a figment of imagination) that you haven’t explored, but you’d dream to?
M: That is a massive question…there is so much knowledge in the histories of this world that we are sheltered from, especially in the West. I imagine there are a billion things we don’t know about right now that will one day inspire us. One idea that we haven’t explored yet is how human beings relate to the other living beings on this planet.

S: What advice would God’s Prey give to those who are into fashion?
M: Choose your own path in fashion…there is a massive industry based on telling us what fashion is, what to wear and what to look like, but they are just out to make money. Wear what feels right to you, and if people look at you funny, they are just jealous of your shining creative light!

S: Whom would you like to see wearing God’s Prey? Why?
M: We don’t exactly have a target market…but we do like to see positive, kind and loving people wearing our clothes! We want to think that our clothes are out there being nice to people.
S: Your pieces are major conversation starters. If your pieces can talk, what do you think they’d say?
M: Probably weird stoner things about shamanism, ancient aliens or what animals are thinking about. They sound a little crazy at first, but if you listen to them you may learn something, or at the very least be entertained.

S: What can we expect from God’s Prey in the future?
M: God’s Prey has really found it’s voice, and we are excited about the future of the brand. Besides fly clothes, we are also going to be branching out into accessories some time in the next year, so stay tuned!
