Serving all angles and planes, model JIN PARK is nothing but smooth around the edge of the catwalk. With a sharp gaze and an even sharper sense of style, he brings it to the runway.
Blurring the lines of minimalism and androgyny, Jin Park has a clear understanding that the look isn’t all there is to modeling. “I was always fond of fashion,” he recalls. “Actually, I was majoring in Chemistry at an Engineering college, but I decided to follow my dreams of working in the fashion industry.” But how to account for a Korean student’s rise to the top? The kid was non-stop. “I withdrew from university and started working at a clothing shop. Lucky, I got casted to do a show and that’s how I began modeling.”
With perfect sight of what he wants, and a certain precision of where to go, he first opened for Emporio Armani S/S16, and went on to walk for Vivienne Westwood, Dries Van Hoten, Hermes, and Kenzo, while also doing campaigns for JUUN.J and working with RUSSH, W Magazine, Vogue Korea, Esquire, and A2Z. Now with three years under his belt, he still hasn’t fallen out of love with his work. “Honestly, even after a few seasons, there is nothing I don’t like about the world of fashion. I think this is because I’m always happy and living as a model is something that not everybody can experience which makes it more special.” He continues, “There are tons I love about it. It is pure happiness to have people interested and curious about the music I listen to, the clothes I enjoy wearing, the places I like to hangout, and basically, anything about my life behind the scenes.”

You’ve been noticed by a variety of huge brands such as Emporio Armani, Hermes, and Kenzo. What do you think makes you stand-out in the modeling scene?
Jin: I put a lot of efforts in creating my own vibes and putting it across the room at the castings.
Among so many models with great promotions, I try to appeal by conveying my own vibes and styles and I think that this effort makes me stand out in the modeling crowd.
As a model, you get to wear a lot of different clothes but how would you describe your own style?
J: I wear eye-wears very often. Matching a simple T-shirt with just unique and cool looking glasses can make the whole outfit very attractive in different way which is an advantage. I recently bought new Yves Saint Laurent glasses in Barcelona because I was attracted to its unique/distinctive frame.
With your growing success in modelling, are there any dream brands you hope to work with in the future? If so, can you name them?
J: RAF SIMONS, simply because I love the brand.
What’s next for you?
J: I want to make eyeglasses.
