STATUS went on a little diving excursion last April 14 and swam with the otherworldly creations of illustrators Soleil Ignacio and Tokwa Penaflorida.

Not quite mermaids, more of spirits or nymphs, these creatures—with their long, flowing hair, expressive gazes, and subtle sultriness—lured us deeper and deeper into the waters, though more to riches rather than rocks. And what did these belles have to say for themselves? Hello Sailor.

Needless to say, the entire night was gorgeous, made even more so by the fact that one of the artists was one of our own—former STATUS art director Soleil. Great art is always a good excuse to hit the town, and an even better excuse to meet up with old friends and make new ones.—DEXYLEBOWSKI
