The first Manila Music festival was nothing short of awesome! Check out what you missed in STATUS’ very own Manila Music Festival video montage.
The first (hopefully) of many Manila Music Fests was all about a fine frenzy of positivity that fine first day of May at Aseana Avenue. And luckily enough, that was what the music was apparently supposed to be about anyway. But don’t take our word for it, take Afrika Bambaataa’s! We cornered the Grandfather and Amon Ra of Universal hip-hop culture and he said that music and every artist playing in its accord should play for the balance of the music as he does.
“I’m going all over the Philippines, the slums of Tondo, and all other areas for all the people involved. Rich or poor people that just get it and love it for the art,” he says. ”So if you’re going to pull a woman with cuss words, I’m telling you, that’s not what we want to hear! We wanna hear you try a respective mood, we wanna hear peace, love, and having fun. We wanna hear ‘fight the power!’”
That’s exactly what we heard, alright. But again, don’t take our word for it, play the video below and find out for yourself.—LOSTGIRL
