Before there is color, there must first be light. Without light, everything just fades into one giant splotch of black. Artist Michael Bosanko from the UK melds these two concepts of visual art by using rays of light as his paint brush. His canvass—the dark space around him.
By using torches, penlights, LED strips, fluorescent bulbs, and even the common household flashlight, Michael seemingly creates suspended figures of light as he adjusts his camera’s shutter speed and aperture to capture his creations. There is only one rule that Michael adheres to: absolutely no photo editing!
His latest work “Electrobloom” brings the viewer into an alternate world where the flora and the occasional fauna are made entirely of light. Who wouldn’t want that in their own garden? -RAYRAE
