No matter how we define ourselves as captains of our own ship, sometimes we just can’t help but cling to chance once in a while to make our lives more exciting. Maybe that’s why we have this affinity to concepts like zodiac, talisman, kismet, and all that fluff. Seems like we’re cosmically drawn too with Delfina Delettrez’ accessory collection My World including talisman earrings, Mayan symbols, among other fatally intriguing stuff. (more…)

We were at the DC Shoe Co. fashion show at the Makati Shangri-La last night where we got a sneak peek at what they’ve got coming for Holiday 2010. Toymaker Huck Gee has apparently teamed up with DC on a number of interesting pieces. Huck’s a huge Motorsports fan and has teamed up with DC and rally driver/DC co-founder Ken Block on a “Double Label Project” collection. (more…)

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010F*ck Art, Let’s Dance
Tuesday, March 9th, 2010
Before we intellectualize everything, it’s nice that we could stop for a while and enjoy the moment while it lasts. This goes for art too. With the exhibition F*ck Art, Let’s Dance this March 12-19, we can actually appreciate art in its purest form. Forget about knowing if it’s impressionism or cubism. What did you really feel? Let’s get right at it in this event curated by Kiko Escora, and see some works from Sharon Atillo, and Jujiin Samonte, among others. (more…)
And the Winner is
Tuesday, March 9th, 2010
So for the first time in Oscar history, a woman won the Best Director Award. Kathryn Bigelow, who directed the cult classic, Point Break, won the award for The Hurt Locker which ended up sweeping the show with multiple Oscars. It was amazing to see a small indie film win over big Hollywood juggernauts. Even seeing the film Precious get so many nominations was truly amazing. It just goes to show that you don’t need the very deep pockets of the Hollywood studios to pull off a successful film. (more…)
Oscar 2010 Fashion Round-up
Tuesday, March 9th, 2010
The annual Academy Awards is a celebration of tremendous talent as much as it is a huge fashion fiesta—we all know that; and this year is no exception. While hundreds of stars dazzled on the red carpet, here are my top ten fashion favorites. (more…)
Modern Men
Monday, March 8th, 2010
To all you modern women, I have a question. How fashionable would you allow your man to be? I mean, fine, let them wear the most exquisite shoes and watches. Most of the time, that does the trick right? But with Gareth Pugh’s Autumn/ Winter collection, we see men wearing wide-leg pants or is that a skirt? (more…)
No Time to Shoot
Monday, March 8th, 2010
The other night we checked out b-side by jewelry designers Ken & Dana at Stay in the Lower East Side. Their Gun Reclamation Project showcases jewelry created using various gun components. In an effort to keep guns off the streets of New York City, the duo designers put on the launch event with Z!NK Magazine to get more community backing up their work. (more…)
Rather Ripped
Sunday, March 7th, 2010
Layering is such a joy, isn’t it? But if summer’s in, that doesn’t mean you can’t play with your clothes as much as you did the other seasons. During these times when you just want to wear something white, light, or sheer, why don’t you really go for the ripped, torn and sweat-stained look that rockstars have been pulling off since the 70s? With Cesar Padilla’s book, Ripped: T-shirts from the Underground, we get tee inspirations that are as cool as our favorite groups like Run DMC, The Cure, and Talking Heads. (more…)
Lens Flair
Saturday, March 6th, 2010
If you haven’t noticed, then you should probably get your eyes checked; coz fashionable eyewear is the new key accessory. Seen on the likes of Kanye, Cudi, and Gabe Saporta of Cobra Starship—fancy lenses give any outfit a pop of attitude ranging from playful and quirky to sleek and chic. (more…)
The Punch Line
Friday, March 5th, 2010
We’ve witnessed the invasion of the Louis Vuitton logo a few years back. It’s impossible not to recognize it. But instead of bombarding us with their patterns. They’re now going old school with their Summer 2010 collection, introducing their Punchy Sneakers. Geared with a catchy name and a vintage design, Louis Vuitton is obviously trying to get the attention of preppy boys and sneakerheads alike. (more…)
The Golden Rule
Friday, March 5th, 2010
If there’s such thing as the Midas touch in fashion, it’s Balmain’s latest collection. I can go on and on talking about their signature strong shoulders but at the end of the day, their RTW Fall 2010 designs spell out the golden rule which is to look so good that your natural spark’s bound to come out in every way. (more…)
DC Skate Tour in Cebu
Thursday, March 4th, 2010
The skating scene is growing like wildfire here in the Philippines, no wonder a bunch of reputable skate brands bring their pro skaters to do demos. DC brought in 5 riders, Greg Myers (US), Kota Iikeda & Hirotochi Kawabuch (Japan), Bjorn Johnston (New Zealand/Australia), Keiran Reilly (Australia) to showcase their talent. (more…)
On the Plus Side
Thursday, March 4th, 2010
You know you got the right jeans when even if you’re wearing the simplest tops–you’re still looking hot. When I say hot, that means absolutely no awkward sagging or those unpleasant muffin tops. With Blue Notch Spring/ Summer 2010 collection named New Resistance, we simply can’t resist these jeans with zipper and rivet detailings moved to the side instead of the front. (more…)
Mouse Hunt
Thursday, March 4th, 2010
After first being seen at the runway of his Fall 2009 RTW collection show last year, Jeremy Scott’s Adidas Originals JS Mickey Hi sneakers have finally hit retail. (more…)
Breaking the Ice
Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010
They say there’s pleasure in discovering what makes a serious woman tick like in those black and white films where the female leads are so attractive because of their distant, almost icy veneers–as if you can never spell what’s going on in their heads. Well, with Iceberg’s Fall 2010 collection, you get to break the ice by knowing at least what these women wear. See the runway shots from Milan Fashion Week after the jump. (more…)
I Gotta Feeling
Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010
If The Killers couldn’t make it, then whatever. Now we’re in good spirits again because we’re so hyped about Paramore’s first concert in Manila. I can just imagine rocking to their hits like “Ignorance” or oh well, the Twilight track “Decode.” But my gosh, we’re seeing Hayley live! It’s gonna be an awesome night on March 9! Yeah? (more…)
So Fly
Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010
I got a chance to chat with Mark Ong aka SBTG last Sunday and it was amazing hearing from one of the best sneaker customizers on the planet. What’s the latest? His label RoyaleFam and DC have teamed up on a collection for Spring 2010 which will launch in Manila on March 10. (more…)
Reality Check
Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010
You’re only as good as your last project, so they say. With Christian Siriano’s Fall 2010 collection, we’re awed the way Posh was when she saw Christian’s collection for the Project Runway Season 4 Finale. But unlike winners of other reality shows (ANTM to be exact haha), Christian continues to be a winner in the real world with his designs for Payless. (more…)
The Cold Treatment
Monday, March 1st, 2010
What commonly should ‘pale’ in comparison with the much praised tanned look is the alabaster skin of vampires that was popularized these days by Twilight celebrities Kristen Stewart, and Robert Pattinson. But it’s not just these teenybopper favorites that make us love this cold and almost surreal transparency of complexion, because designers like Alexander Wang, and Proenza Schouler favor the pale look for their Fall/Winter runway shows. (more…)
Triple Treat

Thom Yorke released 3 new tracks at his benefit show for the Green Party’s Tony Juniper. Whether you’re a Radiohead fan or simply a Thom-head, his 19-track set included songs from the band, and solo efforts from the album The Eraser. It’s nice to remember “Karma Police” or sing “Creep” but man is it our pleasure to hear fresh songs from him which you can all watch and listen to after the jump. (more…)
A Room of Surprise
Saturday, February 27th, 2010
With Transverse Temporal Gyrus, Animal Collective collaborates with artist Danny Perez for the Guggenheim Museum’s 50th Anniversary. They produce a psychedelic installation composed of a sound and video projection transforming space into something where “The core elements and colors are worked into the piece in order to unite this room of sound with the inside of your brain,” says the band. Surprisingly, it’s not as complicated as it sounds. (more…)
Femme Fatale
Friday, February 26th, 2010
If you missed Hitchcock’s icy blondes or the contrived innocence of Anne Baxter in All About Eve then you’d love Agyness Deyn’s role in Mean to Me, a short film directed by David McDermott and Peter McGough. Though it seems at first that Aggy is too modern for old Hollywood reincarnations–her performance is proof enough that substance and style can coexist, especially with those Zac Posen gowns and Mikimoto pearls! (more…)
Welcome to the Show
Friday, February 26th, 2010
Capsule is becoming the premiere trade show for independent up and coming brands. The fact that it’s held in a beautiful old church immediately separates it from the run-of-the-mill trade shows staged in gigantic convention centers. (more…)

We’re all excited about this
We just discovered this cool little bar/lounge called Norry after we attended an event at Reed Space. (Norry is actually attached to the famed Cambodian Restaurant Kampuchea.) The place is very warm and cozy with a chic neighborhood-y feel to it. They have amazing cocktails which I personally taste-tested for you guys. (haha)
