So Long, Irving
Monday, October 12th, 2009
Whenever I’m looking at an Irving Penn photo, I feel his poetic preciseness transcribed into image—those blank stares, enigmatic poses—that bear a calm singularity of vision and pureness of thought that strike just as the shutter clicks. With his death at age 92, what he left with us are his photographs transcending his own time and space. And in a sense, he still lives just as the images he captured—from Pablo Picasso to Kate Moss—he’s shot ‘em all. (more…)
Red Alert
Sunday, October 11th, 2009
Seems like in Tinseltown, you really gotta step up your game and be a jack-of-all-trades. The former model, turned Oscar and Golden Globe nominee, Chloe Sevigny, now focuses her creativity towards fashion design as she releases her new collection for Opening Ceremony. Sevigny transforms her winter catalogue into a bibliographic project on redheads, aptly naming it “Reds”. A sight for sore eyes? I think so. (more…)

Supreme Fall/Winter Collection 09
Tuesday, October 6th, 2009
There’s just something cool about the way Supreme does their editorials. It makes me want to jump into these boy’s hoodies and jackets (and dude, I’m a girl ok?). Check out what they did for Japanese magazine Cool Trans, styled by Angelo Baque and photographed by Kenneth Cappello. Maybe it’s the way they layer it. Maybe it’s the way they pose. Or maybe, just maybe, it’s the way these boys look like they don’t give a F*ck. Damn Supreme, you did it again. (more…)

Gathering Light
Tuesday, September 29th, 2009
Before there is color, there must first be light. Without light, everything just fades into one giant splotch of black. Artist Michael Bosanko from the UK melds these two concepts of visual art by using rays of light as his paint brush. His canvass—the dark space around him. (more…)
Medium is the Message
Sunday, September 27th, 2009
Whatever haters say about toy cameras and lomography, a good photo is still a good photo. Because in the end, it’s the photographer’s skills that matter. But it doesn’t hurt if you have a cute camera to capture decisive moments with. (more…)

Vicarious Thrills

When a person reaches a certain level of material wealth, chances are he already has his own way of showing it off. Acclaimed photographer Martin Parr from UK doesn’t hold back in exposing the nasty and yet strangely intriguing habits of how people flaunt their money in the most blatant ways possible. (more…)
