Answer: Blood for Thought
You probably belong to the Thank-God-It’s-Friday club. I can’t blame you. Even Robert Smith will agree with his song “Friday I’m In Love.” But maybe today’s different. What if today’s the time to really make a difference? (more…)

To those who say that jocks only end up as..well..jocks..and then bums..we bet Sean Avery is stickin his middle finger to you right now. As an ice hockey left winger for the New York Rangers, he surprised everyone as he interned at Vogue. (wtf). Anyway, a self-proclaimed clothing addict, he joined in a fashion partnership with friend and former director of Calvin Klein’s celebrity services, Lauryn Flynn and in June 2008, just two months after he joined Vogue, Avery guest-edited Mensvogue.com, the website for Men’s Vogue magazine.
If you think he stopped his “eerie” interests there though, you’ll be proud to know that he is now acting upon his aficionado for vintage wine as he opens this posh restaurant/sports bar in The Village called Warren 77.

DALAGA, NYC
Monday, February 23rd, 2009
Along the unassuming Franklin Street in Brooklyn, you will find a quaint boutique called DALAGA. Dalaga is a Filipino word which translates to “young lady”. Once you enter the store, you feel like you are entering a young lady’s apartment. The clothes are showcased on mismatched furniture while the cashier is behind a big antique dresser. The chandeliers give the store a warm glow while the drapes hanging from the ceiling and hardwood floor make the space more cozy. The little trinkets throughout the store add to its personality. The shop carries a nicely edited selection of women’s blouses, dresses, jeans, shoes, accessories and sprinkles a few men’s items. DALAGA is an authentic boutique combining great brands and unique styles, unlike the polished generic stores in the city.

Owners: Michelle Mangiliman & Bob Lindemen
Hours: Tues- Sun, 12pm-9pm
150 Franklin St., Brooklyn NY 11222

Subway Visual Remixes by Poster Boy
Friday, February 13th, 2009
First, there was Banksy from Bristol whose socio-political street art (like the banana-armed Pulp Fiction hitmen) took shitloads of cash through auctioneers. Recently, there was The Decapitator from London prowling the streets for virtual heads to take (gross work in the middle). And now there’s the subway ad-slasher Poster Boy making a fuss after his arrest right in New York. This comes to no surprise. After all, he has razored-out quite a number of paid ad posters in the NY subway for his art, called Angeline Jolie a “tabloid queen”, Britney Spears a “scapegoat for shit values”, and Gossip Girl “a nasty piece of shit.”
The concept is simple: he saw the self-adhesive vinyl posters as re-stickable stickers. No need for stencils and spray paint. He didn’t even have to make something, just put things together. The result is an amusing and sometimes shocking graphic remix. Check out more of his cutting-edge works HERE.

The legendary and ever innovative Radiohead didn’t just bring hordes of viewers to the Grammy Awards. They also won the Best Alternative Music Album and Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package during the show which was viewed by 2.5 million more people than last year and put up an epic performance of “15 Step” with the USC Trojan Marching Band. Guess we’re not the only ones who still want to hear it over and over again. We even made our own rainbow-coded edit of their video performing the song. What’s even more awesome is that you can make your own cut too. Visit THIS SITE of their Japanese tour promo, and MAKE YOUR OWN 15 STEP RAINBOW. Share your own mix in the comments!
Jude Law as Minx in Sally Potter’s “Rage”
Tuesday, February 10th, 2009
While the gorgeous Jude Law has proven himself a thespian extraordinaire in masculine roles, he’s not imposed himself a limit. In this years’s ongoing Berlinale, he adds something entirely new to his filmography that already boasts of memorable performances in Gattaca, I <Heart> Huckabees, Closer, and My Blueberry Nights.By doing this, he now ranks with Johnny Depp, who braved the role of a transvestite prisoner named Bon Bon in Before Night Falls, and John Travolta who was a plus-sized mother in Hairspray. Director Sally Porter writes:
Jude Law, whose beauty has sometimes been held against him as an actor, made the courageous decision to accept the role of Minx - a “celebrity super-model” and took on a kind of hyper-beauty for this persona… a ‘female’ beauty which gradually unravels as the story unfolds.

Whimsical Drawings by Marc Johns
Tuesday, February 10th, 2009
Imagining in drawing how Jesus would look like after a shave and a haircut is just among the many ways that Canadian illustrator Marc Johns creates his world, mostly in post-its. From talking about himself in the third person, growing branches on the head, fine moustaches on strings, having a missing antler, and hat-wearing bubbles, he means whimsy business.
“He’s been drawing since he was tiny. He’s not tiny anymore, but he’s not exactly big either.”
he writes in his Twitter profile, and you’ll see why if you check out his works in Flickr or in his new blog. Really, he’s just like a kid, fitting his entire studio in a large suitcase.
