The list honors 20 executives and talent, all ages 35 and under, who identify as the best of Asian entertainment. Even living legend Karl Lagerfeld can’t help but make her his muse. Her tendencies may be on the wild side but she’s definitely gaining control with her collaboration with Fred Perry, which will be released this October.

Maybe she doesn’t need rehab, just another creative output. And this isn’t just some one-time-big-time piece. It’s actually a 17-item fashion collection where she handled the details from selection to styling. Ain’t that sweet? So if you love her music (plus her hot mess image), this might just be the perfect fashion rehab, I mean collab for you. -TINDABS

These pieces from what they call “The Trench Coat Project” are a collaboration with different designers like Mihara Yasuhiro, Tim Soar, B Blessing, and stylist Alister Mackie. Wouldn’t it be nice to stroll along some park and stand out amid the falling autumn leaves while wearing one of these?

And yet it just happens to be borderline summer where I’m from so the layering tactics and falling leaves fantasy will have to wait. It’s a shame ’cause I really had my eye on Paris Fashion Week regular Mihara Yasuhiro’s Camel Cotton Trench Coat. Just look at the full-length, stone-colored coat with creased sleeves and a lacy belt which give it that already-worn look. To those who are still in between winter and spring right now, be sure to check them out! -RAYRAE

Toymaker Huck Gee has apparently teamed up with DC on a number of interesting pieces. Huck’s a huge Motorsports fan and has teamed up with DC and rally driver/DC co-founder Ken Block on a “Double Label Project” collection.

Apart from sneakers and apparel coming out, Huck Gee was also given the opportunity to leave his mark on the 2011 Ford Fiesta that Block’s driving this season. The side of the car features a #43 plate done by Huck. He also lent his signature skull design , Block-ed out, for KB’s new “Blockhead” logo. Watch out for the HG x KB x DC collection sometime before the end of the year. -MIKKO

This goes for art too. With the exhibition F*ck Art, Let’s Dance this March 12-19, we can actually appreciate art in its purest form. Forget about knowing if it’s impressionism or cubism. What did you really feel? Let’s get right at it in this event curated by Kiko Escora, and see some works from Sharon Atillo, and Jujiin Samonte, among others.

Taking place in Manila Contemporary, get a dose of art from Cameron Clark, CHI CHI (BLACK BOOK DESIGN/KST), Chi Kotur, Chris Yniguez, Julius Valledor (BEE EYES), Leah Castaneda, Marvin Tojos, Merryloo, Nixon Marquez, Otto Terapen (RETARDO), Raena Avella, and Shahani Gania. Not to mention that it’ll host awesome performances by bands BEE EYES, Pedicab and Taken By Cars too. A refreshing creative gathering that doesn’t take itself too seriously, I just love the way that some people are so cool, they just don’t give a fuck about things, in a good way of course. -TINDABS

The recent hype has even gotten the attention of artists like Amy Sol, Chris Appelhans, Naoto Hattori, and Kukula in the ongoing exhibit titled Curiouser and Curiouser.

The thing about artists and trends is that even when they rarely mix together, they come up with great works that get instilled in your memory—long after the hype has passed. Check out these illustrations from the exhibit and see what we mean. The show runs until March 29 in Gallery Nucleus, California. Go ahead, gape at the works and have your own dreams of Wonderland. -RAYRAE

So for the first time in Oscar history, a woman won the Best Director Award. Kathryn Bigelow, who directed the cult classic, Point Break, won the award for The Hurt Locker which ended up sweeping the show with multiple Oscars. It was amazing to see a small indie film win over big Hollywood juggernauts. Even seeing the film Precious get so many nominations was truly amazing. It just goes to show that you don’t need the very deep pockets of the Hollywood studios to pull off a successful film.

The show was hosted by legendary comedians, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. They were introduced by the very talented NPH (Neil Patrick Harris) with a musical song and dance. Though I loved seeing them share the stage together, I felt it could’ve been better if they were alone. I don’t feel like their bit was really original (except when they were caught wearing Snuggies on the couch backstage), however, I was still entertained because let’s face it…it’s freakin’ Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin!

Sandra Bullock who won Best Actress for her part in “The Blind Side,” delivered an emotional, yet comedic acceptance speech in which she starts by saying, “Did I really earn this, or did I just wear you all down? “She got slightly emotional when she spoke about her mom and not allowing her to ride in cars with boys until she was 18. Without saying his name, she also acknowledged her husband, Jesse James.

Jeff Bridges won the award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in “Crazy Heart”. He spoke about how he felt like an extension to his parents who loved the industry so much and would’ve loved to had seen him win the award.

My favorite award of the night, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, went to Christoph Waltz for his amazing performance in “Inglorious Bastards”. Much like Mo’Nique who won the same award as Best Actress in a supporting role, he was the clear cut favorite to win. The film being one of my favorites of 2009, made it memorable not only because of Quentin Tarantino’s witty dialogue or Brad Pitt’s performance, but it really was because of the amazing talent of Waltz.

But the most entertaining part of the night was the performance by The LXD (The League of Extraordinary Dancers). They danced as a music medley from the Best Scores category played. Flips, spins, pop locking, and the high jumps probably woke the crowd up a little. I know they did for me. You’d have to check it out here and see for yourself how great it was.

Another year of films await us. Let’s hope that they end up being just as great as the films in 2009. With upcoming films like Clash of the Titans, Iron Man 2, Alice in Wonderland, and the next series of the Harry Potter and Chronicle of Narnia films, there’s no doubt that there will be some entertaining masterpieces. I just hope the indie world keeps it up with releasing some precious gems. -RICH RAMA

The annual Academy Awards is a celebration of tremendous talent as much as it is a huge fashion fiesta—we all know that; and this year is no exception. While hundreds of stars dazzled on the red carpet, here are my top ten fashion favorites.

ANNA KENDRICK

One of the night’s biggest trends was a pale palette. Not only were the gowns tender and muted, even make-up was light. Despite her pasty complexion, the best supporting actress nominee was absolutely glowing in this Elie Saab Haute Couture gown. The tinge of pink, instead of washing her out, gave Kendrick an even more romantic appeal. Her dark hair was perfectly coifed and her face barely kissed by the make-up brush making for a fresh, airy look. She finished off her outfit with a Judith Leiber crystal clutch and Kwiat diamonds.

AMANDA SEYFRIED

Another starlet who played with the pale on pale theme. The silhouette of Seyfried’s mint green Armani Privé really brought this look a touch of classic elegance, made 21st century slick with the Swarovski embellishments and the actress’s bun. Again we see the slight touch of make-up, just enough to give her eyes more of a pop and her lips the perfect trace of tint. Another red carpet trend she pulls off is the diamond-encrusted bangle also seen on the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker among others.

CAMERON DIAZ

Possibly my absolute best dressed for the night, Diaz wows in this Oscar dela Renta creation and Cartier jewelry. The bubbly actress amped up the old Hollywood glamour with another key trend—a healthy helping of sparkle! Embellishments were everywhere on the red carpet; there were crystals on bustiers and clutches and all over the fabulous dresses. It was like Tinkerbell had sprinkled some fairy dust on everyone.

SANDRA BULLOCK

It was truly this woman’s night. She looked head-to-toe bathed in gracefulness. This Marchesa gold-beaded number stayed true to Bullock’s style and yet made her stand out like the star she is. This is another example of glitz done right, with her matching clutch and bracelet and sleeked hair. She finishes the look off with a beautiful pink lip and her ever-present smile.

MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL

Yet another actress that used striking pink for her lips was Maggie Gyllenhaal. The look at once becomes updated, add to that her stunning earrings and glossy do, she truly radiated beauty tonight. Let’s not forget her marvelous Dries Van Noten gown. Usually reserved for afterparties, in this case the print works to her advantage and gives her look that extra pizzazz.

RACHEL MCADAMS

Speaking of print done right, here’s another stellar look from presenter Rachel McAdams. The watercolor pattern on this Elie Saab gown was perfect for the red carpet. Again we see a preference for paler hues as compared to Gyllenhaal’s darker palette. The updo was another welcome touch, always adding sophistication and glamour. With her Lorraine Schwartz diamonds, Rachel ties the look together superbly.

ZOE SALDANA

The night’s boldest dresser—who also happened to actually pull it off. (Sorry, Vera)—was no doubt Zoe Saldana. The Avatar star went for drama with this Givenchy Haute Couture dress and milked every second of it as she ambled on down the carpet. Her skin tone complements well with the lavender hues, and the ruffles add a romantic air. And look! More crystals. This whole look is one to remember, and Saldana is definitely one to watch out for in the future.

MERYL STREEP

Toning down several notches now, here’s Meryl Streep in a pristine outfit designed by Project Runway alumnus Chris March. I was pleasantly surprised, seeing as the 16-time Oscar nominee usually dresses down compared to her contemporaries. This look is so appropriate for her, well thought out regarding cut, color, and accessories. Her make-up is almost completely nude and makes Streep look effortlessly flawless.

MILEY CYRUS

Of course I had to save this for last, or else my credibility might be in question. Well, haters be hating, Miley Cyrus looked gorgeous. Her top perfectly accentuating her enviable figure, and again rocking out the night’s soft hue and crystal-dusted trends. Her dress is from Jennifer Packham, who did an amazing job with the fit and design. Her slightly tousled bun keeps the look vibrant and young, but she just exudes great style overall. No matter what anyone says, she is a definitely a red carpet staple and she’s here to stay.

So that’s nine of my best red carpet ensembles from the Academy Awards. I said ten, though, and I couldn’t help myself but add a little musing on menswear. I know it’s a black tie event and it’s essentially impossible to really rate the men on their dress, but I must say that there is only one person who was flawless to a tee. Any guy who plans to attend a similar events would do well to take note.

Number ten on my list is TOM FORD, but I guess that’s expected from a fashion deity such as him.

I do admit I sometimes look forward to the red carpet pre-show even more than the actual Oscar Awards show. But with this much fabulous fashion to feast on, who can blame me? -GIO GIONISIO

How fashionable would you allow your man to be? I mean, fine, let them wear the most exquisite shoes and watches. Most of the time, that does the trick right? But with Gareth Pugh’s Autumn/ Winter collection, we see men wearing wide-leg pants or is that a skirt?

I know Gareth Pugh’s all about drama and performance but this collection is neither too casual or too extreme. With some oversized silhouettes in neutral colors, these guys look like they’re men from The Matrix. And hey, if they can pull it off the way Keanu did, then I don’t care if they go too modern with their fashion. I was never the one you’d call old-fashioned anyway. Or that’s just me. -TINDABS

Their Gun Reclamation Project showcases jewelry created using various gun components. In an effort to keep guns off the streets of New York City, the duo designers put on the launch event with Z!NK Magazine to get more community backing up their work.

Currently the pair are buying the gun pieces directly from the manufacturers, but plan on collaborating in the future with the NYC buy back program to get the components for their jewelry instead of it being thrown away.

Ticket proceeds for the event went towards the NYC gun buy back program. At a buy back event, the District Attorney’s office and the NYPD collaborate with local churches and now, Ken & Dana to fund the $200 bank cards given per firearm that is donated on the day of the event. The event was fun to go to and having an open bar for the first two hours definitely started the launch party right. Congrats to Ken & Dana for a successful event. This is a positive and creative way to continue to keep guns off the street. -RICH RAMA

Isn’t it obvious by now that singer, songwriter, DJ, rapper, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Mayer Hawthorne, born Andrew Mayer Cohen, was made to create sweet music? And to think this LA-based music maven has only been around since 2008. For some interview snippets with him, follow the jump.

For the full story about Mayer Hawthorne, grab a copy of our film issue. -RAYRAE

How many instruments do you play? Which is your main weapon, and why?
MH: I played most of the instruments on the album. I learned bass from my father and piano from my mother. I picked up the drums on my own. I’m probably the worst at guitar.

I have the heart-shaped Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out vinyl, and I think it’s genius. How did the idea come about?
MH: I wanted to make something memorable for vinyl junkies like myself. Both of the songs were about love and heartbreak so I asked the label if they would press it on a red heart.

Kids these days react to the term “LP” with a “WTF?!”. It’s an iTunes (+)/torrent (-) generation. If you had it your way, how would you have people experience your music?
MH: People should experience it how ever they like. I personally prefer vinyl, but I also love my ipod. Really, the more ways, the better. Try them all!

Justin Timberlake has let it be known that he listens to your music. What do you think of his?
MH: JT is great. He has a ton of talent and takes his craft seriously, but also knows how to have a lot of fun with it.

What’s it like being signed to Stonesthrow/working with Peanut Butter Wolf? It seems like a haven of artistic freedom.
MH: Working with Stones Throw is amazing. PB Wolf puts out music that he genuinely loves and he doesn’t worry about whether it will be commercially successful. That’s a really rare thing.

I need you to share a bit of your story for inspirational purposes; coming off being a hip-hop DJ and producer, trying to make it as a rapper, then almost by fluke, getting recognized for some mess-around-on-the-side-type stuff. Does the dream validate the path, or does the path define the dream?
MH: I’m a firm believer that you can do absolutely anything you put your mind to. But there’s no such thing as overnight success. You have to be willing to work long and hard for it. Blah, blah, cliché, cliché, but it’s true.

But if summer’s in, that doesn’t mean you can’t play with your clothes as much as you did the other seasons. During these times when you just want to wear something white, light, or sheer, why don’t you really go for the ripped, torn and sweat-stained look that rockstars have been pulling off since the 70s? With Cesar Padilla’s book, Ripped: T-shirts from the Underground, we get tee inspirations that are as cool as our favorite groups like Run DMC, The Cure, and Talking Heads.

Besides, I think we’re all of a tee collector in some way. Admit it, there’s nothing like slipping on some vintage find that you know nobody else has. Hell, they even have designs of The Kinks and The Sex Pistols. (Although I think the rarer it is, the better.) Its 200 pages explore the glory decades of good ol’ rock ‘n’ roll. Call it post-punk or glam, it’s never about the label. How about some attitude? -TINDABS

Seen on the likes of Kanye, Cudi, and Gabe Saporta of Cobra Starship—fancy lenses give any outfit a pop of attitude ranging from playful and quirky to sleek and chic.

Fashion eyewear has been around for many years—see Gucci, Tom Ford, et al—but only recently has general interest really been hyped. At the recent Capsule Trade show in New York—an event that gathers some of the most innovative and promising designers along with a bunch of other quirky finds—London eyewear line Cutler and Gross’s spring/summer collection made an immediate impact.

Their designs are exemplary and they focus on very sculptural frame construction, very fresh silhouettes, but with very obvious classical influences. They have an array of designs, from mod to preppy. Both sunglasses and regular glasses are available in many different colors and styles.

The brand has been worn by the likes of Victoria Beckham and the Olsens and continues to be a favorite among various people of all backgrounds. In production for over 40 years now, Cutler and Gross is established for their attention to detail and superior quality. With original and hip designs that go beyond the norm, their success comes with no surprise.

Boasting of the ability to blur the lines between conservative and avant garde, Cutler and Gross is a stellar choice for that perfect pair of specs. -GIO DIONISIO

It’s impossible not to recognize it. But instead of bombarding us with their patterns. They’re now going old school with their Summer 2010 collection, introducing their Punchy Sneakers. Geared with a catchy name and a vintage design, Louis Vuitton is obviously trying to get the attention of preppy boys and sneakerheads alike.

The LV Punchy Sneakers comes in high and low tops with different colors and material. And if you’re worried about causing a commotion with these babies, don’t be. The oversized LV logo is stitched on the side (with the same color as the sneaker). VERY VERY SUBTLE. Priced under $600, these sneakers are gonna be worth every penny. Get them now and be careful not to break necks with them. -DIZZYRIZZY

I can go on and on talking about their signature strong shoulders but at the end of the day, their RTW Fall 2010 designs spell out the golden rule which is to look so good that your natural spark’s bound to come out in every way.

From their baroque and richly textured dresses, you’d be looking so elegantly posh–the way modern royalty should be. Their blazers with animal prints and low V-neck tops are so sexy–baring just enough skin, and leaving everything to imagination. But the dresses! They’re so gorgeous. Actually, not just gorgeous… they’re golden. I’m squinting my eyes, just by looking at them. -TINDABS

In our film issue, we related how mumblecore master Joe Swanberg comes up with quarterlife contemplations in the form of movies, but not before explaining to you what “mumblecore” was. We have more interview snippets after the jump.

For the full story, grab a copy of our film issue. -RAYRAE

Your two-person crew approach really challenges the need for all the frills built into the Hollywood system. If you did have the budget, what or who would you spend it on?
Joe: I would love to pay my collaborators better. If I had a bigger budget I wouldn’t work in a different way, but I would make sure to pay everyone well. I would also like the experience of working on constructed sets on sound stages. It would be very fun to have the freedom to remove walls and light from above and completely control a location.

Your films feel less about escaping reality and more about confronting it. Did your strict adherence to reality come from a rebellion against the status quo, or was it really just more about circumstance and the way you liked to work?
Joe: Originally my adherence to reality came from the frustration of not feeling like I was seeing reality anywhere in the media. I wanted to represent myself and the people around me as I saw them. I don’t feel frustrated anymore, and I feel like an overwhelming number of people are making realistic narrative films now, so my interests are changing. I’ve moving away from reality into a more psychological territory. I am still trying to make truthful films, but I’m trying to get at the truth through different channels.

What is catering like on a Swanberg production?
Joe: We eat very well! I like to take my actors to restaurants at night so that we can talk and drink and share ideas. I want my films to seem like a vacation, and food is an important part of that. Even though the films are very cheap, I am happy to spend money on good food. When we made HANNAH TAKES THE STAIRS, my friend Kevin, who did the the music for the film and was my only crew member, cooked food for us every night. That was the best!
