Shepard Fairey said it himself–the mind behind the Andre the Giant stickers and Obama HOPE poster–it’s crazy to be possibly convicted with a felony charge which could have put him behind bars for 87 years.
This could seriously make you think, what’s up with Boston, being a cultural center and all, that they have to make all the fuss about “a poster on the back of an electrical box and earlier this year planting a sticker on the back of a sign and a poster on the side of a condo”?
Now, he has to “pay $2,000 to a graffiti removal organization and cannot possess tagging materials — such as stickers or paste — in Boston except for authorized art installations. He also must tell officials when he plans to visit Suffolk County, where Boston is located.”
“I think there’s also a lot of people that are really hungry for contemporary art and are progressive, creative people,” he said. “For their needs to be eclipsed by a very vocal minority would be unfortunate, and that’s what I think that we all need to keep perspective on.”
You can send your sympathies when he DJ’s this end of the month at Experiment Redux.
