Someone at Nike who’s a big Kobe and Tarantino fan put the two together to come up with the one thing his heroes have in common. The Campus did the math and the result, a collab between a cult classic film and two of Nike’s timeless sneakers.
The Lakers star is referred to as the Black Mamba, paying homage to the deadliest snake in the African continent. It incidentally is the name of Uma Thurman’s character in the movie Kill Bill, the most dangerous member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad.
The Big Nike High features a black leather upper and a yellow outsole. The sneaker would’ve already been real nice on its own but might have fallen prey to a Hattori Hanzo sword along the way. Blood is splattered all over the shoe’s quarter. The Auto Flight High on the other hand rips off the colors of the Vol. 2 movie poster for its own. The big surprise lies on the sneaker’s insoles with the Black Mamba’s ‘Death List’ all over them but instead of the familiar victims of the movie’s protagonist, the big spin is the first two names on the list, Pierce and Allen, Kobe’s victims in last season’s finals against the Celtics. Will that list get any longer?
You suppose correctly. -MIKKO
