We may not be walking along the La Rive Droite in Paris but we felt every ounce of its famed elegance in Vania Romoff’s Holiday 2012 collection.
Maybe it’s just me, but something about Vania Romoff’s ode to Parisian chic reminded me of Audrey Hepburn, the queen of effortless style. Like her character in Sabrina, the collection of understated nudes and blacks (even one piece in fiery red) told the story of a girl coming to Paris and going through a stylish awakening. She discovers elegance in simple silhouettes, monochromatic floral prints, full skirts, cinched waists, and materials that flowed as smoothly as the River Seine. Turbans, pearls, Mary-Janes, and sunglasses gave the looks their full effect, presenting a confident and self-assured woman who doesn’t need to turn around to know that’s she’s getting second glances.
In the movie, Sabrina moved to Paris an unloved, ignored girl but by the end of it, she had two men fighting for her affection. Try wearing Vania’s designs and I’m sure the same will happen for you.—DEXYLEBOWSKI
