Who hasn’t had their experience of Disney movies growing up? I relived a bit of my childhood during Philippine Fashion Week as the models strutted down in the designers’ collections full of couture and glam. Read on to see the pieces from different collections and their counterparts.
Sony Cybershot Luxewear collection by Aztec Barba had long flowing gowns and dresses which reminded me of Hercules’ heroine, Megara. Strong and feminine like that dress. Gotta love the purple, too!

Xernan’s oriental oasis takes us back to old China reminiscent of Mulan and the customary Chinese clothing, the Cheongsam. This one is a perfect fit as both Mulan and Xernan put a modern twist on tradition.

Bring out the big helmet as Erika Adona and Tron’s futuristic theme cross over to an alternate dimension and meet on a grid. Look at the collection and hear Daft Punk wave tunes beep through your vision.

Chito Vijandre is bringing out the new groove. That is, The Emperor’s New Groove. This Yzma-inspired outfit makes you realize that even villains have got style.

Anthony Ramirez’s tastefully done sheer and lace against a stark blue dress is evocative of Atlantis’ Kida, a magical person who lives underwater and swims in the deep blue sea.

First look at Veejay Floresca’s collection made me think of 101 Dalmation‘s Cruella De Vil, which isn’t a bad thing in fashion. Just like a fashion designer extraordinaire, she can make a grand gesture of strutting in the room with her evil presence that’s threatening yet very glamorous.

Remember Michael Cinco and his shower of gold? Whoever has watched the classic Disney movie Fantasia must remember the scene with the dancing flowers. Need I say more?

John Guarnes and the fish prints are an obvious give away to the Disney reference, Finding Nemo. Keep afloatin’ with those shoes or, well, just keep swimming.

Louise Claparols: imagination + sheer + color + bo-beep dress= Alice in Wonderland

Enrico Carado must have pegged Sally’s style from Tim Burton‘s The Nightmare before Christmas, whose sewn (limbs and) rags he transformed into a dress. This may be a scene from horror, but the collection turns hauntingly eerie into beautiful art.
