Hear ye, citizens. Ye royal outfitter Avel Bacudio prepares his Medieval Warriors for a regal romp. All ye lords and ladies hark, for the style invasion is upon us.

At Philippine Fashion Week yesterday, Avel Bacudio presented a monochromatic vision of viscounts in black capelets and duchesses in scalloping pleated skirts. The tailoring was impeccable, down to the textured layers of fabric and the leather coat sleeves. The silver gauntlets and shoulder pieces shone in 21st century Joan of Arc splendor, while diamond embellishments acted as dusted armor against plainness.

Like gilded paintings of yesterera come to life in way less color but way more modern grandeur. Backless bustiers and deep Vs were accented by silver shoulderplates while printed swirls get cinched with not-so-chastity belts. Bacudio, although taking cues from the age of knights and knaves, understands form like no other, and this is how we like our silhouettes: made to measure. Cut and sewn. The royal treatment.—D-SIÓN
