Pop that Can’t Stop

MuralI wonder what pop art granddad Andy Warhol would say about the exhibit Pop Life slated from October 1 to January 2010 at Tate Modern. After all, he was the one who gave birth to pop artists like Damien Hirst, Takashi Murakami, Gavin Turk, Tracey Emin, Keith Haring, Martin Kippenberger, Jeff Koons, Richard Prince, and Cosey Fanni Tutti who are featuring their work together this time.

From labyrinthine floor and wall designs, colorful city life murals, disturbing installations making use of stuffed animals to toys for the big boys—the exhibit provokes as it balances creativity with commercial. Thanks to dear Andy and his kids for creating art that’s as sticky as kitsch but still knows how to kick ass. -TINDABS
