Guess who just got invited to NY’s Fashion’s Night Out? Not us, but our Style Issue’s New Kids on the Block: Proudrace! And Status is more than just proud, we’re also bragging! Check out the rest of our interview with the duo below.

ProudRace is the brainchild of two people coming from two different backgrounds. One is an industrial designer, and another is a t-shirt designer. Together, Rik Rasos and Pat Mosby come up with collections reflective of their personalities: a bit dark, playful, and very kooky. New York, watch out!-SEREENA

S: To the uneducated, what is Proudrace?

P: A fashion label. As much as we want to say that our name came out of nationalistic intentions, it did not. We were just playing around with words. But when we started getting attention outside of the country as a brand from the Philippines, the whole name just became more significant to us because we really are proud of our race.

S: What are the things that inspire you?

P: Random things. Everything and nothing in particular. We’re also inspired by people who are not really fashion forward. We’re inspired by their identity. When you chance upon them on a regular day, yet they still look amazing and perfect. It’s so distinct.

S: What’s the craziest thing that you did for fashion?

P: 20 foot tall intricate paper dresses for a window display. But we always say never say never!

S: Tell us about your dream project.

P: A flagship store.
