I got a chance to chat with Mark Ong aka SBTG last Sunday and it was amazing hearing from one of the best sneaker customizers on the planet. What’s the latest? His label RoyaleFam and DC have teamed up on a collection for Spring 2010 which will launch in Manila on March 10.

The Circus of Mutants “The Fly” Edition is based on a disbanded Singaporean skate team in the 80s & 90s and pays tribute to one of its original members. Mark shares that he came up with the concept for the project along with “The Fly” himself, Lucas Ng after skating together one day. The collection consists of three sneakers as well as boardshorts and a couple of tees and caps all designed by SBTG.

In line with the launch of the collection, DC has put together an Art Deck Competition where twenty local artists were chosen to customize skateboard decks and battle it out for premium prizes. The competition will be judged live and winners get chosen by none other than, yup, you guessed it right. DC is flying SBTG in for the launch event happening on the 10th at Manor in Eastwood, Libis!

The SBTG 2010 Asia Tour starts on March 4 beginning in Taipei, Taiwan followed by the Tokyo, Japan leg the next day. Next stop is Manila on the 10th with the tour wrapping up in Singapore on the 13th. -MIKKO
