Something “floaty” could mean just about anything–from ghosts to snow gently falling down the sky…even better is it could be something beautiful like ‘not-yet titled LP’ that Sigur Rós will be releasing next Spring 2012.
Iceland-based post rock band, Sigur Rós‘ last release was in 2008, so when we found out they were releasing new beautiful (there’s no other way to describe it) music, we had to find out more. Sigur Rós frontman Birgisson has figured out that we can’t describe the dream-esque feeling that their music offers; feeding our ears with adjectives like “floaty and minimal” to describe their next album has only left us hanging. Meanwhile, bassist Goggi Hólm calls the album “introverted,” and drummer Orri Dýrason calls it “an ambient album” with “a slow takeoff toward something.” For now, we’ll just have to satisfy ourselves with the forthcoming release, Inni, their film and live concert album out on November 15. –ROBIN SPARKLES
