That’s So High School

You might be fussing over the latest trends in Fall while your friends roll their eyes thinking how the effin’ hell you could worry about that when you can think about climate change. But let’s love what we love and hate what we hate. Here are some looks from Fall RTW collections reminding us of school stereotypes. If somebody tells you “that’s so High School,” well tell them that it is what it is. Isn’t if fun to be such a bright young thing?

The Rebel
1
These types are usually non-members of school orgs and anything legit in the campus. But they’re usually super smart. Lucky you if they invite you to their underground parties.
The Look: Anna Sui’s jacket with puff shoulders shows us that military can go baroque and girly. Add to that the prints galore that exude a daring sense of fun. Marc by Marc Jacob’s romper paired with black socks, oxfords, and sling bag is sexy with its mix of masculinity and schoolgirl cuteness. No matter how many fashion positions there are, military’s tried and tested! : P

The Privileged
2
You will hardly see them staying long hours after school as they’re immediately fetched by their chauffeur. They look simple but they give you an impression that you can’t reach them.
The Look: The key is to look expensively subtle. Wear a crisp polo with tailored outerwear– the way Tommy Hilfiger did it or sport a cool striped cover-up while keeping it plain with your hat, shoes, and bag. But note down how the cuts and unique detailing of each piece make up for their lack of color.

The Snob
3
They seem to not care about anything, but that’s the point—they care too much about their taste, they just have to keep their cool about it.
The Look: Besides the deadpan face and hot mess hair, wear something that’s not too tight-fitting. In fact you can even wear oversized tops for that I’m-all-for-comfort vibe. You might be wearing a Phillip Lim sweater or a Diesel plaid polo—but these girls know that one piece should make a mark. Do that by wearing shades, having a quirky collar or having those hot leather shorts!

The Queen
4
There’s a reason why they’re called Queen Bees. Always making a statement, they’re so historic—don’t be surprised if your baby sister soon finds out about their legend.
The Look: How fitting that Alexander McQueen’s design has references that go way back to medieval iconography. Be iconic by wearing unique prints, and strong ass boots. Forget the overused tiaras, choose a headdress that no one will forget. Then wear blazers with gold details matched with bold colored pants. You won’t be a queen if you don’t have a knack for changing history.
