We try to outdo ourselves every month, and Issue 21 is no exception. With blood, sweat, and tears, we’d like to present to you our Action Issue. We want to capture action not just in sports but also in people who are making big moves and doing something great in their own fields. We couldn’t help but do a double whammy on you, guys. BACK TO BACK cover ya’ll. This is a STATUS magazine first and really was a no-brainer decision for everyone in the team. History in the making and you’re about to get hold of it.

Our front cover is Shannyn Sossamon. If she looks familiar, that’s because she blew up when she acted alongside Heath Ledger in A Knight’s Tale a few years back. Oh, who missed The Rules of Attraction? Now, she continues to act but mostly in independent features like Road to Nowhere (currently doing rounds in the festival circuit), aside from being a mother, and is directing movies with her friends. Seen Warpaint’s music video for “Undertow”? Kristine Dabbay hears from her and what her heart is all about these days.

Our cover on the other end is known to all skateboarding lovers as P-ROD. Paul Rodriguez, Jr. needs no introduction, but if needed, you can look him up and see all that great and awesomesauce shit he’s been into. Deigo Jose Abad had the opportunity to speak to him on the phone, and for sure, it was nothing but good vibes from our homie.

Also, we had to do a feature on Aaron Bondaroff of OHWOW gallery and aNYthing clothing. We’re just so impressed with his hustle and Toff de Venecia writes exactly why we are.

And of course, this Action issue won’t be complete without hot young athletes who are killing the game right now. Our New Kids on the Block section is full of ‘em boys that we really like. Shoutout to Marlon Stöckinger, Ryan Reyes, Gerard Cancio, and Kit Guerra for doing the shoot with us. The interns had so much fun doing this shoot, and we hope you ladies will like it too.

And lastly, as a STATUS tradition, we try to incorporate ourselves here every time we release an issue. A look inside the STATUS HQ if we must say so ourselves. We had to do intense “action” research and that included us getting off our chairs and moving those muscles. Besides minor accidents from the editorial team, it was a fun dressing up 70′s style, and we got to hit some people while we’re at it! Yeah, We dodge them balls, now let’s see how you catch this one.
