26-Cover FINALThe catch phrase of Barney Stinson sums up this issue quite perfectly. We’ve been sitting our asses, growing molds on our office chairs for so long, while repeatedly listening to our cover girl’s music every freakin’ day (I’m not even exaggerating), and patiently waiting for the time to show off our Legends Issue. OUR WAITING TIME’S FINALLY UP, SO BETTER SUIT UP! The big league is out to get you.

If you’ve been following the Twitter accounts of STATUS writers, then you probably already know who our Legends Issue cover is. “One big room full of bad bitches,” our cover girl raps as our ears get used to the song’s haunting hooks. MTV‘s best new artist nominee, YouTube phenom, and everyone’s guilty pleasure Kreayshawn hits the STATUS cover, photographed by Liam Ricketts. Clad in her Goofy tattoos, huge earrings, multi-colored nail polish and neon-printed clothes, she had just demonstrated to us her own version of “showing your true colors.”

In everyone’s Legends archives, there has to be Dita Von Teese. As Dita talked to us about vintage, the real meaning of burlesque and her new fashion line, we asked Gemma Rowlands of Fade to Black to illustrate this Queen of Burlesque in a different, more STATUS light. Another one of our big leagues is, well, not so (physically) big anymore—but still equally funny and talented. You may know Jonah Hill as Michael Cera‘s adorably comical badass cohort in Superbad, but now he tells us he’s not here to fool around anymore. Try watching the recent film adaptation of Michael Lewis’ best-selling book, Moneyball (starring our HeavyHitter and Brad Pitt), and then be surprised.

Also in this issue are our Maestros: Mick Jagger’s collaborative project with Dave Stewart, Joss Stone, Damian Marley, and A.R. Rahman called SuperHeavy; Brooklyn-based quintet Twin Sister; strangely beautiful Zola Jesus; much buzzed about rapper today, Kendrick Lamar; rock trio Girl In A Coma; and DMC Champion DJ Craze. Whew.

Our Masterminds include designer/entrepreneur Jac Vanek who frequently hangs at Vans Warped Tour with the headlining bands; The Muppets director James Bobin; Glee‘s new mean girl, Vanessa Lengies; The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn‘s werewolf Alex Meraz; Handsome Clothing’s AJ Jamani and Christian Rice; National Novel Writing Month’s Chris Baty; visual artist Oliver Cartwright; and Manila’s very own Ryuji Shiomitsu.

Packed with gorgeous editorials from the streets and rooftops of New York as well as party photos in Manila and beyond, this issue (we hope) has everything to make your month. Please do watch, enjoy, and memorize the lyrics to Kreayshawn‘s “Gucci Gucci.” You’ll be needing it in the upcoming release party.—HITGIRL
