  This was the scene: a crowd of almost 8,000 gathered on a field up the highest hill in central Singapore. It is at Fort Canning, its main building entirely lit up across a concert stage, even more iridescent as the French musician M83 plays what Pitchfork called Best Song of the Year, “Midnight City.” It was the last leg of St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival this 2012.
