Last weekend, I got the chance to celebrate with Terno Recording’s 10th year anniversary and watch French indie band Tahiti 80. Who needs booze when you can get drunk in the goodness of their music?
Tahiti 80′s known for their music’s feel-good vibe, so I was stoked to see how they would perform live. The act was opened by Radioactive Sago Project and Up Dharma Down who performed on a separate stage but was equally welcomed by the audience. After the opening numbers, the crowd hurried their way to take their place in front of the main stage where Tahiti80 was.

When Tahiti 80 finally came on stage, we all went wild! The night was abuzz with a crowd of hardcore fans who were fast to shout their requests as the band played songs from Puzzle to their recent album, The Past, The Present & The Possible.
A lot sang along to Tahiti 80′s songs and immersing themselves in its feel good vibes. After a few sets, the lead singer and guitarist, Xavier Boyer was quick to say that playing in the Philippines was much better than in their hometown, to which he quickly followed up with, “I’m not making fun of my hometown, but it was really fun just playing here.”

Of course, there’s always an encore to every concert so when they finally came back on stage, they played “Open Book” and “Heartbeat,” two of their most popular songs. My favorite, though, is still their song “Better Days Will Come.” And with the band’s infectious happy tunes, better days did arrive in Manila.—ROBIN SPARKLES
