Are you scrolling through your iPhones and Android phones right now? Well, if you are, you might have a glimpse of the past when you read about this. Way before Apple and Samsung dominated the phone industry, everyone had a Nokia–literally everyone. And unlike our fragile, expensive phones of today, the Nokia 3310 was a nigh indestructible phone that served its purpose well.
Though Nokia didn’t done too well in the past years and had already been sold, they are now bouncing back by giving us the ultimate throwback. They’re rereleasing the beloved old phone for only $63! Why should we be glad to have a musty old phone back? Well here are five reasons why:
It’s Cheap and Pickpocket-friendly
Unlike today’s unreasonably expensive smartphones, the Nokia 3310 will come for a mere $63. And since it’s cheap, it’s easier to replace. Plus, think of all those pickpocketers who would have an unpleasant surprise once they see this.
It’s Practically Indestructible
I kid you not. The memes that surround this phone’s extreme durability do not lie–and there have been videos showing it. Speaking from personal experience, if you get this phone and drop it from a table height, I assure you, it’s going to land safely on the floor with not so much scratches. If anything, You’d likely be worried about your floor ’cause it might end up with a crack instead.
It’s More Functional and Less Distracting
Yes, yes, your iPhone has a thousand apps and a minifridge on it, but the Nokia 3310 can do what most phones already do. You can call and text, set reminders and alarms, and even play a few games on it. But unlike the iPhone, you’ll find yourself actually spending time outside and doing something rather than scrolling through Instagram or Snapchat-ing every little thing you see. And if that’s not enough, the battery life last like an eternity.
It Can Serve as an Extra Phone
Of course, it’s nice to use your smartphones as what they are and all, but its dangerous to walk out in public while you use your expensive little phones. The Nokia 3310 can serve as that as a backup, as well as a thief repellent.
It Can Be Used for Self-Defense
Remember, what I said about it being nigh indestructible? Well it can serve for another purpose. If you’re being mugged or assaulted, this phone is hard enough to be chucked at your attacker, and it’s probably going to cause a concussion. Maybe if you buy another one and attach them to one another with a chain or wire, you can have a makeshift nun-chucks you can swing at people.–ERNEST TO GOODNESS
