2012 is finally here and I’m sure we here at HQ are not the only ones trying to get rid of a holiday hangover. But now that we have sober minds and optimistic outlooks, let’s go ahead and start the year right.

It’s the 2012 apocalypse and we’re all still alive! Give yourself a pat on the back, guys. You deserved it for surviving. Now it’s time to get your butt into gear and put that second lease on life to good use. Here are a few things you could do to jump start the new year and begin it with as much of a bang as you ended the last one.

READ THE HUNGER GAMES

If you are an avid follower of our blog, then you may have noticed that although we enjoy our indie bands and our streetwear brands, deep down inside, everyone in STATUS is secretly a geek. One of the things we’re really excited about for the next year is the fantastic line up of movies. 2012 is gonna be a good year for silver screen. There’s The Avengers, The Hobbit (you should probably read this as well), American Reunion, and of course, The Hunger Games. Not wanting to make this entry into a boring novel, just know that it’s probably one of the best contemporary young adult books out there right now. Read it before the movie comes out, you’ll thank us.

P.S. It’s a trilogy, so yeah—get crackin’.

WATCH A NEW SERIES

I’m sure by now most of the shows you watch are on their “holiday break” or whatever. So why don’t you start watching a new series to fill the void? Try a new one like Game of Thrones (we’re geeks, remember), Once Upon A Time, or American Horror Story. It’ll be nice to get these old episodes done with before the new batch roles in.

WATCH ALL THE ZOMBIE FLICKS / READ ALL THE ZOMBIE LIT!

So according to the movie 2012, the world is going to end through a really horrifying natural disaster (floods, typhoon, etc.), but I know that most of you kids secretly hope it’ll be a zombie outbreak and I think we should prepare ourselves for this (if you already haven’t). GET A SMART PHONE

Better get on it! Not only will it the jokes about your ancient phone stop, but it’ll be cheaper for you in the long run! BBM, iMessage, Kik, Whatsapp, and real time updates from Facebook and Twitter are inevitable needs in today’s world. Seriously, stop being a hipster for a second and get with the program, or else you’ll get left behind!
