It’s not weird to go from one event to the other during the holidays. From family gatherings, to midnight service, to a last minute rendezvous with your friends; it gets exhausting, having to change from one outfit to the other (come on, admit it. Three parties, one outfit. Ew.)
Here’s a guide that will teach you how to be party hop like a pro.
You just need a staple piece of garment like a kick ass dress, comfortable shoes, and the right accessories to make this work, don’t be caught lugging around a big sack of your stuff when you should be enjoying this time of year you little socialite you.
YOUR NEW BEST FRIENDS
- Everyone should have a new LBD in their lives—a “little blue dress”. It’s a fun color that can still be classic if it needs to be.
- Chuck out those pumps and wear some suede booties instead. Think classy with an edge.
CHURCH SERVICE
Cover up and look chic. Minimal accessories and minimal makeup for this one. Not the time or place to go all out, the night’s just begun.

MEET AND GREET
Since this is with family (or maybe even some close friends or officemates), you can ditch the jacket and show a little skin (aka arms), raise the bar a bit but still keep the accessories and makeup to a minimum, this is your middle ground for proper and party.

PARTY HARDY
This is when you can go crazy. Add more accessories or change them up to fun ones that your mother normally wouldn’t approve of or would be too flashy for a religious ceremony. The belt is optional, but it’s a great add-on to make the dress a little more casual.–VEGGIE SAMURAI
