‘Tis the season to be jolly! Falalalalalala! It’s also the season for parties, gatherings, and getting dressed. I’m sure everyone’s excited to party it up, unwrap presents, and maybe get a little something under the mistletoe. But before anything else, you better get rid of some old habits and trends that might just put you under the fashion gods’ naughty list!
Not only are some of these inappropriate for party wear, but they’re starting to get old and boring, not only that, some of them are just ugly to begin with. Here are some trends that need to go away for the upcoming holidays.

TRASH: Tights underneath skirts
Unless your school requires them for your uniform, ditch ‘em. Our Queen B Blair Waldorf would not approve of this.

TRY: Tights undearneath a sweater dress
If you still want to get that “university” look, go for this one instead. Besides, it’s about to get chilly.

TRASH: Peep-toed flats
This one is only acceptable for formal events, and even then, why would you choose to wear these instead of regular flats or some sexy heels? Keep these in the back of your closet…the very back.

TRY: Smoking Slippers
Still chic and sophisticated but with a very edgy vibe. They’re much more comfortable too!

TRASH: Sheer billowy tops
Stop the whole sexy Sound of Music look. It was cute for a bit but it got old really fast. We’re not completely excluding sheer tops, just those oversized ones that everyone keeps tucking into their bottoms with their bras exposed.

TRY – Low necklines
Show your actual cleavage with low necklines. With lower necklines trending the streets, it’s time to show everyone what you’ve got, be careful though, I know it’s the season for giving but don’t give away too much. This trend thins the line between sultry and slutty, you don’t want to be called a ho ho ho ho!

TRASH: Clogs
Everyone, look at a pair of clogs. I mean REALLY look at them, what do you see? If you said a cute pair of 70s shoes you’re wrong. They’re basically hole-less Crocs with heels. Do you want to wear hole-less Crocs with heels? I didn’t think so.

TRY: Good chunky platform shoes
If you really want to go for that 70s look, go for a good pair of chunky platform shoes. Wedges will also do or a good pair of platform brogues.

TRASH: Tulle skirts or dresses with tulle skirts
Are you performing in Swan Lake or Nut Cracker? If the answer is no, then ditch the itchy skirt for something more comfortable.

TRY: Pleated chiffon or georgette skirt
It still has that ballerina vibe minus looking like a 7 year old.
ULTIMATE TRASH LIST
Just some trends that we really NEED to go away but for some reason they keep sticking around. There’s no substitute for these, just make them stop NOW!

Kitten Heels
NO. PICK ONE. FLATS OR HEELS.

Leggings as pants
I think this is a trend that many have wanted to go away since its first appearance. We need to get rid of all the camel toes out there! You are NOT three years old anymore.

Bow ties
Of course we couldn’t forget about the guys! Some of you feel like you’re Chuck Bass, well, no, you’re not. Unless you’re going to a formal event (ie. Black tie NOT family gathering), leave this one behind boys, it honestly makes you look like a douche.
A BIT OF CHRISTMAS ADVICE
If it makes you look 15 years younger or 15 years older, DON’T wear it. And please, DO NOT give any of these as gifts, not even to your worst enemy, spare the rest of the world from seeing these things on people!
Happy holidays everyone!–VEGGIE SAMURAI
