Robert Mapplethorpe is best known for his homoerotic nude works that normally raise eyebrows, but his photographic genre isn’t just confined to some obscene aesthetics. In fact, he has amassed himself some transcendent floral photos that also represent his affinity for still photography.
To pay homage to his works, Japanese label uniform experiment have gotten together with The Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation to release a series of printed tees. Ranging from orchids to calla lilies, the subdued graphics are smoothly juxtaposed against the predominant white base to purposely emphasized Mapplethorpe’s floral captures. Capped off with Mapplethorpe and Uniform Experiment branding on the back, it would be best to couple the shirts with some tasty leather or distressed denim jackets.—ROLLIE POLLIE OLLIE
