Most of the latest stuff come out in pictures shot by only the finest cameras and photographers, edited and polished by a seasoned eye, with themes ranging from the mundane to the eccentric. Keen to try something new is Unionmade.

Everything in Unionmade’s Spring 2011 lookbook is illustrated—nothing but manual creativity from artist Richard Haines who dressed 18 of the line’s favorite customers and friends with the new collection. Accompanied by quick and intimate bios for each customer, the lookbook is described by owner Todd Barket as “fresh” and “a nice departure from photography.”

The bright colors and dapper layering that one might expect from a spring line are gracefully laid out in colored sketches. The decision to go illustrated definitely did a lot to give the lookbook a very calm, casual feel that compliments the actual style of these Unionmade outfits. It goes to show that no matter what the season, photography (nor anything else for that matter) isn’t a singular go-to; there’s always room for creativity to take other routes when it comes to fashion. —LONGFELLOW
