Greeted at the door by the towering display of sneakers, we were instantly in an aura of amusement. Before we even stepped into the venue, our heads were already bobbing to the likes of Kanye’s “Theraflu”—swear words and all. The thriving music spun by DJ Scratchmark set the tone for Sole Academy which used the entire first floor for the event. A photobooth, mirror-enclosed sneaker displays, and Vans artist’s books added to the welcoming effect of the night. Gourmet Japanese snacks kept the guests busy as they walked in and out of the store while passersby peeked in with curiosity.
