Forget how you remembered these ladies in music all started out, because those days are long gone. From being the goody-goodies to ending up being featured in music news headlines due to their mischief and slight notoriety, they’re obviously changed for the most part. But one thing’s for sure, you can never deny their overflowing talent and potency when it comes to music, which everybody keeps coming back for more.
This week’s Tunesday honors these badass female talents and their undeniable tenacity in the music biz.
The music industry will never be the same if one Taylor Swift never entered the mix. She started at the age of 14 singing country music, from ending up to be one of the most popular popstars in the history of music. Together with her undeniable talent and musical influence, news about her image has always been questioned in the media. Dubbed as “America’s Sweetheart” and ironically, as someone who always plays the “victim,” Taylor also has been popular for her infamous dating history, girl squad, run-ins with co-female musicians, and that huge dispute versus the Wests.
From being popularly known as Disney’s Hannah Montana to the sultry singer singing that she can’t be tamed, Miley Cyrus just shocked everyone with her transformation. The girl has done everything from riding a wrecking ball, grinding on Robin Thicke, and getting caught smoking salvia, but love has softened the wild child and now behaving pacified than ever.

I Did It Again,””(You Drive Me) Crazy,” and the list goes on and on. Together with the hits, the news about her much-publicized mental issues had this superstar undergo a long hiatus from performing, which she bounced back with hit albums, a successful stint in Vegas, and world tour.
This petite powerhouse started out as Cat Valentine in Nickelodeon’s Victorious before she took over the music industry by storm with her number one debut album Yours Truly. From playing a teen idol to become the music vixen, she has been in the news because of her public relationships with ex-boyfriend musician Big Sean and current flame rapper Mac Miller and also being caught licking donuts displayed on a counter that she didn’t buy. She has then apologized for her poor behavior and has focused on her music and charity works.
Rihanna didn’t get the “badgalriri” title for nothing. This sexy singer from Barbados charmed her way to us with her hit “Umbrella” and from then on, she never left our radar. Always in the eye of the media for her risqué fashion sense, she is also known for her public display of affection with weed. She was involved in an abusive relationship with ex-boyfriend musician Chris Brown but that didn’t trample on Riri’s continued rise to prominence in the music industry.
This then church singer now sings of becoming a perfect storm and a dark horse. Katy is known for her loved hits “I Kissed a Girl,” “Hot n’ Cold,” “The One That Got Away,” and more, but her recent faux pas have been putting this teenage dream on the hot seat like her throwing shade at Britney’s breakdown and the undying feud between Taytay. But the once Mrs. Russell Brand continues to magnify her musical prowess and just did a good job hosting the recently concluded VMAs. – THE D
