With Heart and Seoul (Fashion Week) Part II

Seoul Fashion Week S/S 2013

Published on Saturday, October 27, 2012

What?! It’s raining in Korea and WHAT?! I’m actually wearing pants! Leather pants FYI. Now, if you’ve visited the office more than once, you’ll know that pants and I don’t go together. This is a first, everyone! and it was very well documented.

The weather was extra cold today. It was a great excuse for me to bring out my faux fur. Yeah, don’t worry, I love animals too!

It may have been chilly today but that didn’t delay any shows in Seoul Fashion Week. In fact, everything was on time and right on schedule. The first show was Kwak Hyun Joo. Celebrities were seated across me and even if  I couldn’t ID any of them, I couldn’t deny that they looked damn good. The collection had alot of prints and fabric used. From camo, checkered, lace, sheer, to a la scuba suit material. It was cool. My favorite had to be the pink scuba dress with black laces on it.

Leyii’s latest collection, on the other hand, was all about minimalism. There were alot of cut-outs, paneling  and sheer. It was kept very simple and it made the pieces relate to each other.

The last 3 shows I watched were in a different location. I had to take the bus to the Xi Gallery which was like 30 mins away from the War Memorial Musuem. The venue is definitely smaller and it only had 3 rows of seats but it made the shows more intimate and more “exclusive,” per se.

Cres E. Dim, S=YZ, and Paul & Alice have a few things in common. First of all is the color story; alot of whites, mint green, gold—basically colors that are easy on the eyes when presented.

Second was the use of prints. This is probably something I could never get tired of. There’s just something about prints on leather jackets, trousers, or  tops that just makes me want to snatch them off the model. And lastly, the three designers really made sure that the clothes can be relatable to the audience, connecting their collection to their daily lives. Pieces like knit crop tops, leather coats, and clutches are just some of the pieces that I think a woman on a go can take from the runway to her wardrobe.

While the shows were an hour a part, I had to miss out on the shows in War Memorial due to the traffic.  It was a whole day event and your girl is beat. Thank God for press rooms and VIP lounges—they gave me a chance to charge up, literally and hypothetically. The only thing I’m guilty of is eating all those muffins. CARBSSS :(

So, while everyone is probably hungover or just about to have some Halloween fun, I think I need to cut this short just so I won’t scare you guys away. Till tom!—DIZZYRIZZY
