Proletarian Fashion March

If only the common workingman were as snappily dressed as the dashingly trim models in Zxander Tan’s Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2011 collection, we bet everyone would unabashedly admit to having blue-collar worker fantasies.

Calling his collection “a tribute to men of different cultures–from the Eskimos and the Chinese fishermen, to the Tobi construction workers of Japan and Korean farmers,” Zxander sent on the runway his line of oxymoronic pieces such as loose pants paired with fitted coats, and woolen tops mixed with shiny denims. But despite the contradictions of fabrics and textures, the collection remained seamlessly coherent, thanks to a uniform absence of colors–surely to make even Mao Zedong and Karl Marx proud.–The Soy Boy
